WELCOME TO
TREEHOUSE

At Treehouse, we believe that healing is not a solitary journey. It is a communal experience, where each individual's growth contributes to the vitality of the whole. As we heal, we uplift those around us; as we find peace, we create harmony in our neighborhoods; and as we cultivate wellness, we sow the seeds of a healthier, more connected community.

Through yoga, movement, sound, meditation and various holistic practices we offer “magic and medicine” in the heart of Hamilton by creating communal spaces that are zen and minimalist; cozy and inviting; as well as inspired and practical.

our why

We don't aim to exclude anyone from Treehouse; our goal is to ensure that the makeup of our yoga classes reflects the demographics of the wider community. Like the biodiversity present in forests, where various trees, plants, and organisms coexist in harmony, thriving on their unique strengths while contributing to the ecosystem as a whole, we seek to create an environment where all individuals, regardless of race, age or ability, feel welcomed, seen, and uplifted. Biodiversity is vital to the health of any ecosystem, as it enhances resilience, supports balance, and ensures that every living element can thrive. At Treehouse, we believe that the diversity of our community, like the diversity in nature, strengthens and nourishes the collective well-being of all.

WHAT PROBLEM ARE WE TRYING TO SOLVE?

Despite yoga's growing popularity, only about 9% of practitioners in the United States and around the globe are Black. This underrepresentation is not merely a demographic statistic—it reflects deeper systemic issues related to access, cultural perceptions, and the historical exclusion of Black and BIPOC individuals from wellness spaces that are dominated by western and white narratives. The result is that a large segment of the population is missing out on the proven physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga and holistic health practices.

OUR DREAMY MISSION DRIVEN REASON FOR EXISTING

Treehouse is not just a business, we’re a mission-driven social enterprise aimed at addressing critical health disparities within the Black and BIPOC communities. The problem we are tackling is multifaceted, rooted in the underrepresentation of these communities in yoga and alternative medicine, despite the well-documented benefits of these practices.

OUR teachers

OUR teachers

At Treehouse, we believe yoga is more than exercise—it’s a practice that extends into every part of life, both on and off the mat. That’s why we’ve intentionally cultivated a community of diverse, genuine teachers who are not only skilled in guiding others but are also committed to their own daily practices. Representation matters to us, and we’ve brought together teachers who reflect a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, creating a space where everyone feels seen and welcomed. Our teachers are on their own unique journeys, just like you, which makes this community one rooted in growth, learning, and shared discovery.

Why Yoga?

Treehouse exists to help present and future generations feel better in their mind, body and heart by awakening their innate capacity for self-healing and personal transformation through yoga.

Since 1921, over 3,000 scientific studies and numerous books have been published all affirming yoga's positive impact on mental health such as reducing anxiety, stress, and depression; improving flexibility, strength, and heart health and decreasing blood sugar levels and risk of diabetes. Yoga is medicine! And we believe that everyone should have access to the transformative experiences of yoga and meditation. Treehouse is a space where we want Black and BIPOC individuals to feel seen, valued, and included and we're working to break down the cultural and economic barriers that prevent people from practicing yoga.

5 Reasons to do yoga

Stress Reduction and Mental Clarity
Yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system, lowering cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and inducing a sense of calm. It also enhances mental focus and mindfulness through breath control and meditation.

Enhanced Cardiovascular Health
Certain types of yoga, like Vinyasa or Power Yoga, elevate heart rates, providing a cardiovascular workout. Additionally, yoga has been shown to lower blood pressure and reduce heart disease risk by improving circulation and reducing cholesterol.

Chronic Condition Management
Regular yoga practice is highly beneficial for managing chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease, which disproportionately affect BIPOC communities. By promoting body awareness, movement, and breath control, yoga can be an accessible way to improve overall physical well-being.

Better Sleep and Relaxation
Practicing yoga regularly has been linked to better sleep quality. It relaxes the body and mind, helping to improve sleep patterns and combat insomnia by reducing anxiety and promoting a sense of relaxation before bed.

Improved Flexibility, Mobility and Strength
Regular yoga practice stretches muscles and improves joint mobility, reducing stiffness and promoting greater ease of movement. This increased flexibility helps prevent injuries and enhances overall physical function. Yoga also improves both upper and lower body strength through consistent weight-bearing postures and sustained stretches.

The Values
that guide us

Our dream for our island is that we become an inspiring community that has harnessed the transformative power of love. We believe the only way to become an inspiring community that has harnessed the transformative power of love is to help each individual to experience better health and happiness in their day to day lives. We know that yoga and meditation changes lives and improves your quality of life. We exist to help present and future generations feel better in their mind, body and heart by awakening their innate capacity for self-healing and personal transformation through yoga.

We teach the lifelong, practical tools of yoga and meditation and ways to integrate them into our daily lives. And we believe that everyone should have access to the transformative experiences of yoga and meditation which is why we’ll be working with businesses, charities, schools, teachers, sponsors, sports clubs and community leaders (everyone) to get more Black and Brown bodies on a mat!

SERVICE
Our commitment to service recognizes that all life is interrelated and that what affects one, affects all. For our team, service is an integral part of the spiritual path, leading to greater compassion, fulfillment, and ultimately self-realization.

JOY
Grounded in joy, we remember that joy is not dependent on external events or desires but rather a natural state of being that emerges when we are able to be present and content here and now.

CONNECTION
We believe that connection involves cultivating deep and meaningful relationships with oneself, others, and the world around us. Our commitment to connection helps us to center empathy, courage, and love in our interactions with others.

We also value excellence, love, people-over-profit, peace, trust, and beauty and will ensure that we live and model all of these values as we build Treehouse with and for our community.

CALM THERAPY

Goretti Headshot-scaled

Goretti Clementino offers a therapeutic technique that focuses on relieving tension in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles and organs. The primary aim is to alleviate pain, enhance mobility, and promote overall relaxation. The fascia can become tight or restricted due to stress, injury, or poor posture, leading to pain and discomfort. It’s often described as a slow and deliberate process, focusing on the body’s natural rhythms.
